First Hill Walk Of The Year

Time to shake off the excesses of Christmas and the New Year, and get back into the hills.  I headed out for the first hill walk of the year today, breaking myself in gently with a trip up one of my local 100, Mullaghdoo in the Sperrin Mountains.  It was a nice crisp day to be out, and the short days meant it was easy to time it to get the sunset too.  Nice one to start the year.  I haven’t had time to look through all the photos yet, but I did a quick processing job on three of them anyway.

On the way back down, and the sunset was casting nice light over the Glenelly Valley.

On the flanks of Learmount Mountain South Top, looking over Dart to the summit of Sawel with a dusting of cloud.

The sun just dropping behind the slopes of Mullaghclogha.

    1. Thanks Jessica. It was a really nice walk all round, but the light really did hit a peak for about 10 minutes or so round the time of that shot. Progress was slow for that spell as I concentrated on the photos 🙂

  1. Aidy, We in Mountaineering Ireland, are doing a coffee table book on the highest 100 mountains of Ireland. Helen Lawless gave me your contact. We would be very grateful if you would supply a good photo of Sawel. Full credit but alas no cash!!

    1. Alan I’d be happy to if its not too late – I’m not the most prompt with checking the comments here. Are you after shots from Sawel, or shots looking towards it?
