The castle which is the main focus of the park.
A few more photos from a walk at the end of November around Castlederg Castle Park, when we got our first taste of winter. The park is at the bottom of the valley, beside the River Derg, where the cold air lingered all day, and the frost and fog never cleared. Perfect weather to try for some photos with a more subdued colour palette, although there were still some vibrant tones here and there too.
At the entrance.
Frosted webs on the colourful gate.
The castle, with some public art in the foreground.
The River Derg, receding into the fog.
A different angle on the castle ruins, and another piece of public art, which doubles as a seat.
A detail from the artwork.
Wandering through the small woods, which look much bigger in the fog.
The right conditions can make even the most familiar places seem novel and worth exploring with new eyes.
What a great place. Some absolutely lovely pictures. The foggy, frosty weather really worked to your advantage.
Thanks Jessica. It was nice to see somewhere so familiar in more unusual circumstances.
More great shots. I like how the colourful art pieces contrast against the fog-shrouded castle.
Cheers Martin. It was a nice contrast between the colour and grey, sharp and fog shrouded, and modern and ancient.
