Looking along Tra na Rossan beach towards Crocknasleigh hill.
I had packed a lot in to a single day’s tour round a small area of Donegal, and I wasn’t finished yet. My next stop was on Tra na Rossan beach near the northern end of the Rosguill Peninsula. Walking in from the car park on the boardwalk through the marram grass, I was tempted by the sight of Crocknasleigh hill, but I knew there would be an extensive walk to be had there over and beyond the hill to the end of the peninsula, so I would save that for another day.
A view of Crocknasleigh hill as I walked towards the beach.
I had photographed the beach before from one of my favourite viewpoints high on the Atlantic Drive, and some of those shots can be seen in this older post – https://aidymcglynn.wordpress.com/2014/05/08/rosguill-peninsula-atlantic-drive/
Today, I would get down on the beach itself where I took several shots making use of the rippled sand, pebbles and driftwood for foreground interest in the evening light.
It was time to leave the beach, and start driving in a homeward direction, but there were still a few shots to be had before this day was over.
Wow! Wish I was there. Just my kind of place.
Thought that myself Jessica – Donegal in general could have been made for you:)
Your photos really complement the whimsically-named place.
Thanks Jay – not 100% sure but I think it means something like beach of the headland.
