Our final stop on our tour of the northern part of Inishownen in Co. Donegal – Five Finger Strand. In a previous post in this series, I had shown some photos of the beach from high above on Soldiers Hill. The cliffs in the photo above, would form part of the slopes of that hill. Seen from above, the dunes at the edge of the beach seem to provide a good explanation for the name of the strand, the shape formed by the undulating dunes being similar to that formed by the knuckles on a closed fist. We were lucky enough to have nice evening light for our walk along the strand.
We weren’t the only walkers on the sand.
Five Finger Strand is a beautiful beach in a stunning, scenic location, and if that isn’t enough for the photographer, the stony areas, with their subtle hues provides a further attraction.
We had seen so much in this one little corner of Donegal, emphasising again the wonder of this beautiful county.
Lovely warm glow to the evening light.
We had a beautiful evening for it Jessica. Looking back at the photos now, we had a pretty good summer overall.
