One of the most interesting things about Muckross Traditional Farms in Killarney National Park, was all the examples of old farm machinery and vehicles. Everywhere I looked there was something else to photograph, many of them conjuring up memories from my childhood.
Swath turner, used to turn the cut hay, lying in lines in the fields, so that it would dry in the sun.
Barrow of turf for the fire.
Root cutter, used to pulp and cut crops such as turnips, for the livestock.
Threshing machine, which wouldn’t have been owned by the farmer. They would travel round from farm to farm.
