Mullaghmore is a fishing village in Co. Sligo with an impressive harbour and golden beach, and a stunning backdrop formed by the Dartry Mountains, with the Bluestack Mountains also visible across Donegal Bay. It is a great spot for photographers with so many varied subjects and I spent a happy few hours there on a family day trip. The results will form the basis for this, and a few more posts.
On arrival, we first headed for the beach, and although it was overcast, I took a few shots anyway, trying to empasise the ripples in the sand.
The harbour was our next stop, and it made a great landscape subject in its own right, but I’ll save those images for my next post. Here, I’ll concentrate on detail shots of the boats and fishing equipment.
There was so much to catch the eye that I took far too many photos for one post, so I’ll continue with a separate post focused on wider shots of the harbour.
I love the seaside, all aspects of it, and your pictures make me feel I’m right there – from the rippled sand which I can almost feel underfoot, to all the colourful fishing gear stacked and piled on boats and quayside. i particularly like the blue gloves – you’ll know the shot I mean.
Thanks Jessica, very nice comment. I do know the one you mean – there are endless opportunities in those sorts of locations.
